How to perfect your lipstick | Pictorial

Sometimes just chucking on a lipstick isn't going to cut it, especially with some formulas that like to make their way over your face, or does that just happen to me?
I've found that applying my lipstick this way, using different lip liners & doing it in different layers helps it to stay put & last a lot longer, too. This is not something that I do everyday but when I have time & I'm wearing a bolder lip colour I like to spend a bit more on the lips.

My MAC Lipstick Collection

Hello dolls, sorry for the lack of posts/ comments!
Today I am bringing you my MAC lipstick collection. I've posted my lipstick collection (back then, anyway) sorted out by colours, so I do have some of these in there but I wanted to group my MAC ones all together and do a generalized review.

MAC has to be one of my favourite brands for lipsticks, because I can really notice the quality compared to cheaper brands. The biggest differences are the pigmentation, how they apply & how long wearing they are. I find some of the brighter/ deeper ones stain my lips so much that I still have a tinge on my lips when I wake up in the morning.

The packaging is quite simple with the usual black, bullet shaped tubes, but I like how the Viva Glam ones stand out with pink instead of silver on the inside. I also love the standard vanilla smell that all MAC lipsticks have.

MAC lipsticks have come in 9 finishes: Matte, Satin, Frost, Cremesheen, Cremesheen Pearl, Lustre, Amplified, Amplified Pearl, Glaze. Wow that's a lot more than what I thought there was until I looked it up. For a great in-depth description of each finish, this blog describes them better than what I could ever do.

Hue
A light nude pink, Hue is perfect for when you don't want a full on nude look. The glaze finish is the most natural out of them all, providing a subtle colour but also lasts the least amount of time, which is ok because it is easy to reapply.

Creme D' Nude
A nude peach colour in a very moisturizing & creamy formula which makes it only last around the 2 hour mark, but is also easy to reapply. It has a decent amount of coverage but is still fairly natural.
Myth
A pink-beige nude which I find way too creamy & have to smooth it out with my fingers after applying it from the tube, but it is perfect for a blanked out lip look. You can tell from the skin swatch how much comes off from a light application. Is anyone else's the same? From what I've read it is one of the more drying shades but it is not like that on me at all.

Angel
One of the most perfect pink nude lipsticks I own, I do not find this as frosty as what everyone else claims it to be. I can see why this is a cult classic!

Please Me
A matte muted pink lip colour which is more forgiving than some mattes which will dry out your lips completely & tug on application, which this does not. One of my favourite muted lip colours of all time!

Snob
A satiny-matte finish that is a cool toned lilac-pink, a bit less dramatic than Saint Germain, which makes it a wearable barbie-pink and is non-drying!

Crossswires
A gorgeous coral-orange that I thought never really tried when I received it from the lovely Amalia in a blog sale, but started wearing later and really appreciated the colour. It is perfect for spring & day time & has a lovely sheen thanks to the formula!

Viva GLam Nicki
The first MAC lipstick I had ever bought by myself, that i had to go back & buy as a gift for a friend because I loved it that much! This can pull off different colours on different people, on my friend it looks fuchsia somehow but on me, a vibrant, almost neon coral-pink. DAYMN! Such a nice formula, it applies nicely & lasts a long time.

Impassioned
The first MAC Lipstick I had ever lusted over, is finally no longer a lust! This beautiful amplified finish makes the warm watermelon pink colour stand out & makes it a long wearing, moisturizing lip colour.

Girl About Town
A fuchsia berry colour that I could assume would look awesome on any skin tone & colour. Another amplified finish that leaves your lips glossy & moisturized.

Candy Yum Yum
So glad I ended up buying this at the last minute! A gorgeous **bright** candy pink colour that will be sure to make you stand out. It is matte so it lasts for ages and is slightly drying but I find it very forgiving to wear.

Morange
A super bright, neon orange lip colour that applies exactly the same as Impassioned & is extremely pigmented with just one swipe. This is lovely to wear with minimal makeup or a brown smoky eye.

Ruby Woo
A classic blue-based red lipstick which has become a cult favourite, Ruby Woo is super matte which also means it is one of the most drying lipsticks I own and tugs on your lips when applying, but also lasts throughout pretty much anything & even when it wears off, your lips are so stained that you almost only need lipgloss to freshen it up.

Rebel
An almost impossible colour for me to wear, mainly because I find it way too creamy (just like Myth- I think I got both dud shades from a flash sale website!) I can't get this to apply evenly, so I have to stain it on. It looks a lot more scary in the tube but when applied is a deep plum-berry. I have no idea why it doesn't work on me because everybody else loves it!

Edit: Just realized that I forgot to include the arm swatches!
L-R: Hue, Creme D' Nude, Myth, Angel, Snob, Please Me, Crosswires
L-R: Viva Glam Nicki, Morange, Candy Yum Yum, Impassioned, Girl About Town, Ruby Woo, Rebel
So that is my MAC Lipstick collection. I am very happy with it and think I have a nice selection of brights & nudes. My favourite colours, if I had to pick any, would be Angel, Please Me, Viva Glam Nicki, Impassioned, Morange & Ruby Woo, although I do love them all.

Let me know what your favourite MAC lipsticks are, or your favourite brand for lipsticks!
xx

Bite Beauty Cosmetics// Lip Products Review & Swatches

Bite Beauty is a brand that is featured fairly frequently on Ozsale, and while I was on my "spending ban", which is now a lot more stricter since it is a bit more closer to my big holiday, I saw it on there and thought I would try something from a new brand.

Description from their website-
"Bite Beauty is an all-natural lip care company operating out of downtown Toronto. Our mission is to create lipstick that is high performance and healthy enough to eat for women everywhere."

Rebel With A Cause

I hope everybody had a lovely ANZACS day yesterday, well to those who celebrated. It has started to feel like summer again, which I will appreciate before winter comes! Ugh some "bad" news, I have started to develop a sty underneath my eye, I'm going to avoid makeup in that area but hope it goes away soon!

So I've had MAC's Rebel for a while now and I've used it a couple of times but nothing that I've really felt the urge to post. It's also a colour I've found hard to use, thanks for accidental over lip lining. I've found one way that I really like to wear it, as a stain, and I would really like to start wearing it more frequently in the cooler months.

In The Light & Morange // FOTD // Double Post

Orange lips with light neutral eyes was a favourite look of mine a few weeks ago, sometimes I would even incorporate blue eyeliner into the look as well. I haven't been using my Stila In The Light palette too much lately but at this time I was getting good use out of it.

Sleek Pout Paints // Review & Swatches

Lipsticks used to be the most popular form of lip colour , but now there are many other types available such as stains and paints, the latter in the likes of OCC {Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics}, Sleek & Australis & probably many more, with OCC being the most well known. I have only tried the Sleek Pout Paints as of late, and wish I had tried some earlier!
Lip paints are becoming quite popular as it has an advantage of easily mixing any colour combinations to create any colour that you desire. Obviously most people wouldn't wear colours such as white or blue alone, but they are good for changing the tone & brightness so you can basically have whatever you want!

Lip Inventory 3: Oranges & Coral

The third installment in my lip inventory project is my orange & coral lipstick collection. Once again a lot of the swatches aren't a true representation of colour in real life but it is pretty close.

Festival Makeup: Winged Eyes & Bold Lips

I had no idea how I wanted to do my makeup for Stereosonic this year a couple of weeks ago, but since I had recently bought Morange I thought I would use that... if you want my advice I wouldn't go for bold lips, especially if you can't be bothered to re-apply after each drink or every time you eat like me. It looks great in theory, but the maintenance is a pain! Luckily I still went for somewhat dramatic eyes with my liner.
This is what I wore last year so it is alike in some ways.

Lip Inventory 2: Reds

I've done the pinks here and now it's my red lipsticks collection turn. I always used to be scared of wearing red lips out but now I've gotten used to it, depending on what I'm wearing on the rest of my face. Please to dear god tell me you can see the differences & finishes in these lipsticks, I know some are very similar, though. & again please ignore the messy application, as you probably know red lipstick is hard to wear without applying lip liner & using a brush first.

L-R Nyx Round Lipstick in Eros, Avon Color Rich Mega Impact in Really Rosy, Maybelline Color Sensational in Are You Red-dy, Revlon Matte Lipstick in 005 Strawberry Suede, Innoxa Ultra Lips in Hot Chilli, Australis Moisture Intense in Saigon, BYS Matte Lipstick in Tango, Nyx Soft Matte Lip cream in Amsterdam

Jewel Smoky Eye Makeup

This was inspired by a fairly recent video of Lisa Eldridge just using a dark base & jewel-toned colours over the top. It really doesn't matter which colours you use or the placement as long as they stand out & are jewel-toned, however the black base will take away some of the brightness. Sadly this was an "all dressed up, nowhere to go" look but I had fun doing it and will def. do it again for a night out. You can also go with a nude lip with this but I wanted bright lips, too. Keep reading to see how I used my colours!

My Lipstick Inventory Part 1: Pinks

I've been working on this for the longest time haha. The only thing is I've been too lazy to do a whole lot of lipstick swatches but yay I did it, even if my lips were hurting at the end :P I was actually inspired by a post by the lovely Karima a while back to go through my lipsticks & see how many are actually similar.
Please look past the messy application, the closeups were mainly so you can see the colours. Unfortunately not all are as accurate as what I would like =/

For most of these lipsticks I will link them to when I've used them in FOTD's so please check it out so you can see what it looks like with other makeup & full-faced!

Light Pinks
L-R: BYS Foxy Fuchsia, Revlon Colorburst in Candy Pink, Nyx Round Lipstick in Strawberry Milk, Nyx Round Lipstick in Harmonica, Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in Tokyo

Neutral Arabic-Inspired with Ombre Lips!

I was inspired by one of my newest fave Aussie Youtubers, ChloeMorello. She is so beautiful & does her makeup gorgeously. I am pretty sure this is the video I was inspired by- however mine is not so wedding-y. It was really just the lid colours & placement that I copied haha.

I had so much fun doing this makeup! I have also started doing my under eye concealer differently, please let me know what you think! And also around the eyebrows & lips. I'm thinking of posting an updated foundation routine so let me know if you're interested.

Barbie Girl Makeup!

I wasn't sure what makeup I wanted to do on the weekend for a "Barbie & Ken" themed party, but I remembered an older makeup look where someone said I probably looked like a barbie haha so I pretty much just copied that, so they are very similar. I did like the shape of this one a lot more, though.
I also did my friends makeup for that night :)

Pin-up MU ft. Kate by Rimmel & Maybelline Master Precise

I have some products/ looks lining up & I have used 2 of them in this look to kill 2 birds in one stone, ha.
I have been searching high & low for these Kate lipsticks every time I see a Rimmel display & finally found them, but only chose one colour, so next time I think I want to buy a few more.
Also I have been wanting to try a new liquid eyeliner in a while, so I went with the Maybelline Master Precise e/l because the title is exactly what I wanted, haha. Anyway...

Eyeshadow on the lips, not on the hips.

soo the other sunday i was so bored & i didn't feel like doing my eyes up 'coz then i would feel the need for foundation. & i wasn't actually planning on leaving the house anyway so i thought that since i never really play with lipstick, why not! I wanted to try some things that were different for me, so i used eyeshadow.

Now I've tried to use eyeshadow before but it made my lips feel dry something cruel, so i made sure i put on lip balm beforehand. Another thing i never thought to try was to use a lipstick as a base, just like using a colour base on the eyes to bring out the colours. well it worked perfectly! it made the colours apply soo much more easily & i was very happy with the results.

For these i used the 120 palette but no lip liner so sorry for some of the bleeding.  also with the first one i tried to make my lip shape look a bit different but it didn't show up well in pictures.

top pics are with flash, bottom are natural light

It was too bad that you couldn't see the darker colours on the outside (i wanted a gradient-like effect) but it was weird how with the orange i had red but you cannot see it at all. And over the top of these i applied clear gloss carefully with a lip brush to avoid the colours mixing in together.

Thanks for reading, i think i will definitely be playing with different lip colours this summer!
